  this notice was emailed to a third party who embeds watchtower comments videos on his blog:.

  "my name is tom shepard, co-producer and co-director of knocking, a documentary about jehovah's witnesses.

  you have violated u.s. copyright law by not gaining permission to use footage from knocking in the opening sequence of your series of short videos "watchtower comments" archived at the url: http://jehovahswitnessesvideo.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html .

  Approaching the Attorney General of New York?

  do you suppose, that if there were a concerted effort by enough people, that the ag of new york state could compel the wtbts to divulge the names of all the child molesters that are in their files??.

  do you think that enough pressure could be placed on the society in order to diminish their stature with the state?

  imagine the impact that just the suggestion of such a move would make on brooklyn....... my thoughts......any others????.

  It probably will not work. I also side on the issue of the WTS here. They honestly don't even have to keep records of known molesters. I don't believe it is the governments right to force someone to give up something that is already public info. If your concerned you can always search the child molester database. I personally do feel it would be a violation of rights to give up a name in public of someone who admitted to doing something but was not charged with Child molestation by the government.

  Philanthropy is the act of donating money, goods, time, or effort to support a charitable cause, usually over an extended period of time and in regard to a defined objective

  By definition the WTS is an Philanthropic organization! Hilarious!! The WTS claims that helping others to find paradise is charitable. So they are donating time/money/good to support a charity! This is the type of Awake I dream about a JW using when they come to my door, so that I can completely destroy their argument.

  That's kind of sad that Israel is so hateful to other religions...not surprising though. I imagine it's funny to watch a smug JW from the U.S. come to Israel proclaiming to have a vast knowledge of Jewish faith only to run into an Orthodox and get his brain fried.

  today i approached this elder in the hallway to pick his brains.. i said: "i've seen a couple of buildings sold in brooklyn?

  is there plan to sell all and move out"?.

  he said: "brother these are truly the last of minutes, and day there might not even be any bethel in us...... the persecution is going to be so extreme that bethel might be in...... rome, islands, or bla bla".

  JW weddings gone bad. A story from my old congo.

  first there was the child the high school girl had out of wedlock.

  the term rape was bandied about after she began to show.

  There was couple that my older brother was friends with. One was an immigrant with a drinking problem and the other was a girl who had been married like 3 times before that and she was only like 23 or something. Needless to say after numerous warnings from everyone about her about 3 months later she was filing divorce papers and ready to marry some other joker.

  we should email every news outlet/online outlet we can think of.

  attach a copy of the email sent and make some bad publicity for pbs.

  Hmmm good point Leolaia, I think another good argument would be what is at the bottom portion of that study:

  In some cases, the amount of material copied is so small (or "de minimis") that the court permits it without even conducting a fair use analysis. For example, in the motion picture Seven, several copyrighted photographs appeared in the film, prompting the copyright owner of the photographs to sue the producer of the movie. The court held that the photos "appear fleetingly and are obscured, severely out of focus, and virtually unidentifiable." The court excused the use of the photographs as "de minimis" and a fair use analysis was not required. ( Sandoval v. New Line Cinema Corp., 147 F.3d 215 (2d Cir. 1998).) As with fair use, there is no bright line test for determining a de minimis use. For example, in another case, a court determined that the use of a copyrighted poster for a total of 27 seconds in the background of the TV show, "Roc" was not de minimis. What distinguished the use of the poster from the use of the photographs in the Seven case? The court stated that the poster was clearly visible and recognizable with sufficient observable detail for the "average lay observer " to view the artist's imagery and colorful style. ( Ringgold v. Black Entertainment Television, Inc. 126 F.3d 70 (2d Cir. 1997).)

  Obviously V has this under control but for simple debate, I am not sure this would fall under fair use simply because of how it is edited in. It's not edited making fun of the movie or for some educational purpose. It's just there because it adds to the theme of the youtube video. For this reason it might be hard to make the fair use argument.

  As far as video on cell phones go, you would have to copyright the material and ask anyone in the video for permission to use. If you are in a video and it is publicly posted you can take legal action to have it removed if you never gave permission and you can prove it was filmed unknown to you (not sure but I seem to remember a news item about youtube video a girl did not want posted)....unless your in a government owned public place. Even then if they are making money off of it they must ask your permission. If you are however not making money on it and doing something like a public service announcement (think baldwin brother putting up billboards with people walking in to a XXX store) you do not have to have permission to use footage.

  I am pretty sure this is how it works anyways. Most common people have neither the time or money to fight the image...besides the fame is good sometimes. AS far as just walking in to a Kingdom Hall and filming someone raise or lower there hand it might not be a good idea. A better thought might be to bring a friend and just film them doing this then leave.

  Yea looks like it might be easier to just replace the Youtube videos and deal with the traffic issues.
